Full viewing options can be accessed below the search bar. They should be used to sort out search results after they have already been entered.
- The General tab gives options for viewing the images you have selected: the Thumbnail view is the most minimal on details and is the fastest to skim through. The Details view is the default and provides the image with its caption to the right, and is useful for quick chronological research. The Gallery view is a full-screen viewing option for your search results. The General tab is also where you would enable graphic images to appear in your search results.
- The Sort by tab is where you determine the ordering of your photograph selection by the Date Taken, the Date Uploaded or by Name (alphabetical order).
- The Date Taken tab provides various date isolation options for your photos.
- If you are researching a Topic or Event and wish to isolate it by region, select your desired area in the Region tab.
- The License tab allows you to isolate search results based on the Creative Commons License which you wish to access and is relevant if you want to reuse work you find on Konflictcam.
- The Importance tab allows users to isolate photographs based on User Impressions ratings.
- You can Clear your criteria on the last tab.
We have placed buttons for Konflictcam's ten main topics at the bottom of the Archive Page for ease of use.

Ugandan AMISOM troops, Qoryooley - Somalia, Mar 2014

The Somali National Army and troops from the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) successfully executed a joint operation in the Lower Shabelle Region of Somalia today, capturing the key town of Qoryooley from the extremist group Al-Shabaab. The capture of Qoryooley is also critical for AMISOM future operations to liberate the port city of Baraawe, one of the remaining sources of illicit revenue for extremist group. In an image taken and released by the African Union-United Nations Information Support Team 22 August 2013, Kenyan soldiers serving with the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) inspect a destroyed vehicle belonging to Al Qaeda-affliated extremist group Al Shabaab at Kismayo Airport in southern Somalia. At least seven Al Shabaab militants were killed and their vehicle destroyed early this morning following their attempt to attack the AMISOM camp at Kismayo International Airport in southern Somalia.

SOMALIA, Kismayo: In an image taken and released by the African Union-United Nations Information Support Team 22 August 2013, fighters belonging to the Ras Kimboni Brigade ride on the back of a machine mounted truck know as a technical at Kismayo Airport in southern Somalia. At least seven Al Shabaab militants were killed and their vehicle destroyed early this morning following their attempt to attack the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) camp at Kismayo International Airport in southern Somalia. AMISOM troops thwarted the first probing attack by Al Qaeda linked fighters which began at 8.15 pm, forcing the attackers to retreat.

Hague and Sheikh

British Foreign Secretary William Hague stands with Somali president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud at the opening of the newly built British Embassy in the Somali capital Mogadishu. Hague was in Mogadishu today to open the new British diplomatic mission over 20 years after it's predecessor was closed down and evacuated in 1991 as Somalia descended into over two decades of civil war and conflict, but with an improving security situation in the Horn of Africa country, the United Kingdom has become the first Western country to re-establish a permanent diplomatic presence in Somalia.

Ugandan troops serving with the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) stand during a briefing before advancing on a fighting patrol around an area they captured following a night-time ground advance two nights previous. Troops from both the Ugandan and Burundian contingents of AMISOM and the Somali National Army (SNA) units advanced on foot to the dense area of bush south of Elasha Biya, itself approx. 15km west of Mogadishu, which was hitherto occupied by the Al-Qaeda-affiliated terrorist group Al Shabaab and being used to launch attacks along the Afgooye corridor, the main thoroughfare west of the Somali capital.

Investigating Suspicious Pirates

EU Naval Force flagship ITS SanGiusto captures suspected pirates. When EU Naval Force - Somalia assets locate suspicious vessels and investigation confirms the suspicion, the PAG will be disrupted. This means action will be taken in order to render a suspected pirate group incapable of further pirate operation. Suspect pirates may be detained with the aim to transfer them to competent authorities to be prosecuted. Their equipment is confiscated for evidence.

Al Shabab Fighters Surrendering

members of the Al Qaeda-affiliated militant group Al Shabaab stand after giving themselves up to forces of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) in Garsale, approximately 10km from the town of Jowhar, 80km north of the capital Mogadishu. Over 200 militants disengaged following in-fighting between militants in the region in which 8 Al Shabaab were killed, including 2 senior commanders. The former fighters were peacefully taken into AMISOM's protection handing in over 80 weapons in the process, in a further indication that the once-feared militant group is now divided and being defeated across Somalia.

Royal Marines Commandos board a Somalian whaler

Royal Navy and Royal Marines Commandos board a Somalian whaler suspected of being operated by pirates in the Indian Ocean off the Horn of Africa. Once at the scene, the helicopter identified two suspect vessels, a whaler and a skiff, in the vicinity of the fishing vessel. The faster of the two, a skiff, sped away at over 25 knots as the helicopter gave chase. When the skiff ignored orders to stop, a specially trained sniper onboard the Lynx helicopter fired warning shots ahead of the fleeing vessel which stopped and the suspected pirates onboard were then transferred to Fort Victoria via boat. Fort Victoria’s Royal Marines boarding team then boarded the whaler and another skiff in the vicinity. As a result of the day’s action, a total of seven suspected pirates were detained onboard Fort Victoria along with their whaler as evidence, with no injuries being sustained by either side.
