Protests, or riots depending on your outlook, erupted at Mong Kong shopping area at the start of Chinese New Year, in response to police trying to shut down the unlicensed food stalls in the area. The hotel in Mahabad where the incident occurred was set on fire and burned down. Police subsequently used heavy force and teargas to disperse the protesters.
