Paris Protests 2011

In the context of austerity and economic recession in the European economic crisis, demonstrations of the "indignés" for a "réelle démocracie" in Bastille square of Paris. Protesters deplore privileges of the ruling elite, such as high salaries and placement of relatives of politicians into high posts. This protest is seen as supportive of mass countrywide Spanish protests occurring concurrently, and the appeal of an anti-elite and anti-banking narrative outside of Spain.
